Haley’s Wine and the Breath of Life Gala, Saturday November 2, 2013 the Cairdean Wine team will be sponsoring the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s annual Breath of Life Gala at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco. We will also be releasing our newest Napa Valley wine Haley Margaret which was created to honor and celebrate the life of Haley Margaret Dowdell (October 22, 1986 – August 28, 2012) who passed after a courageous life-long battle with Cystic Fibrosis.
We set out to make wine that is as light, bright, and approachable yet full of character as Haley and believe that we accomplished this by creating a unique and surprising blend of Pinot Gris, Roussanne, and Viogner. The Pinot Gris contributes citrus aromatics of lime and grapefruit to the nose along with sparkling acidity to the palate, while the Roussanne provides the rich yet subtle roundness to this wine. A touch of Viogner was introduced to increase the stone-fruit aromatics and add in subtle floral notes. All in all, not an anticipated blend, but one which we believe all will enjoy.
We also wanted to create a special and unique package for this very special wine. After many months working with our label designer, we believe that we have met this goal. The label is screen-printed on the bottle and wraps around it in entirety with sixty-five roses and represents Haley with her name and images of her favorite activities such as knitting and cooking, and hockey – being from the Northeast she was a huge Boston Bruins fan!
For every bottle sold of Haley Margaret we will not only work hard to raise awareness and funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, but we pledge to donate $10 for each bottle sold to the organization which helps fund efforts to cure and control the disease and improve the quality of life of those affected by it.
